Marine Service Yard Project Manager

THE POSITION:

We’re hiring for a year-round, full-time Project Manager to oversee customer projects at a full-service marine yard. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, has a background in boating, hyper analytical, has excellent verbal communication skills, and is experienced with Excel. As a member of our team, you will be expected to be eager and ready to learn about our company operations and processes.  We aim to provide the highest quality services to our customers; we don’t cut corners, and we always have a focus on customer service. Our team takes great pride in their work, and we’re looking for like-minded individuals. In this role, you will be expected to participate—in our daily and weekly huddles, in problem solving, in helping fellow teammates, and in communicating with customers. You will be expected to bring good energy, enthusiasm and tenacity every day. Active participation in everything from developing solutions for day-to-day challenges to the financials of the business and our monthly meetings is important and expected. 

TIMELINE: Applications due December 12/27/24; Stage 1 screening calls will take place 1/6-1/10/25; Stage 2 working interviews will take place 1/13-1/17/25; Desired start date is 2/3/25.

 PAY: $24-$36/hr

Duties & Responsibilities


  • Ensure customer projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for customer communication, addressing updates, technical issues, and budget concerns.
  • Manage project workflows, including planning, execution, and milestone tracking.
  • Lead meetings for team working on the project, promoting clear communication and a positive team culture.
  • Oversee procurement and availability of parts and materials, including ordering, tracking, and checking deliveries for customer projects.
  • Provide accurate estimates for labor and parts; document and manage change orders as needed.
  • Supervise project safety, subcontractor coordination, and adherence to designs.
  • Collaborate with technicians to deliver exceptional customer service and uphold high standards.

  • Be willing to attend trainings and seek out opportunities for gaining knowledge
  • Test and adjust systems to meet the manufacturer’s performance specifications
  • Be willing to do whatever is necessary to make sure that a customer is safe and out of harm’s way and then go the extra mile to make sure they are happy.
  • With proper training, be comfortable helping to haul, launch, and stand boats using a travel lift and hydraulic trailers
  • Be comfortable launching a boat at a boat ramp
  • Be comfortable using a wide range of shop tools and equipment 
  • Maintain personal inventory of tools and organize tools to be prepared at the job site

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with exceptional communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer tools, including word processing and spreadsheets (Excel experience preferred).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and preventative maintenance knowledge, particularly in marine systems.
  • Proven experience leading teams and managing projects.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on building lasting relationships.
  • Familiarity with ABYC (Certifications Desired)
  • Pass a background check
  • Physical Demands: Ability to consistently lift 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders etc.
