BBY October 2023 Newsletter

 Boyne Boat Yard Friends,

Haul out season is wrapping up, and we want to thank all of you for your loyalty, patience, and trust during this busy time of year. We have a great team and things are moving along quite smoothly during this transition from summer to winter storage.

Spotlight Project: Solar Panels on East Bay

Last summer, we had the opportunity to complete a unique project involving the installation of solar panels on an East Bay. We incorporated an array of solar panels using flexible panels that can withstand being walked on, all while delivering exceptional efficiency. Furthermore, the introduction of a battery management system enables owners to track their energy consumption and extend their time on the water without the need for running engines or generators. It was a pleasure to take on this exciting project and we enjoyed the challenge of integrating this technology seamlessly into the boat.

Brighter Days Ahead

Our storage buildings now have new, energy-efficient lights, ensuring a brighter workspace for our team during the winter months. We have also been updating the waterfront “shack”. A new coat of paint on the inside, and reorganizing will mean a more efficient work area for the team during our busy seasons.

Annual Service Package (ASP) – 3 Years Strong!
Your trust in our comprehensive maintenance approach has been overwhelming. With an annual engine check-up, oil and filter changes, boat inspection, and the assurance of fewer unexpected breakdowns, the ASP continues to be a favorite option for our customers. Thank you to those who have taken advantage of this program!

Cosmetic and Additional Services

If your boat needs cleaning, repainting, or even ceramic coating, let us know. Our team is equipped to offer top-notch detailing services to keep your boat looking pristine.

Training and Continuous Education around BBY

Tanner and Andy embarked on an enlightening journey to the International Boatbuilders Exhibition & Conference (IBEX) earlier this month. Held as the premier event for marine professionals, IBEX has always been a hub of innovation, technology, and the latest industry trends. The conference showcased the newest software, materials, and tools that are set to shape the marine industry's future. This kind of exposure is essential for BBY, reinforcing our commitment to staying at the forefront of technology.

BBY is thrilled to announce that we will be hosting a dedicated training session led by experts from ABYC in the coming weeks. This hands-on workshop aims to elevate our technician’s skills, ensuring they are not only up to date with current practices but are also prepped for the innovations on the horizon.

New Crew Member Alert: Chase!

We are pleased to introduce the newest member of our team, Chase. Chase has been with us for a few months now and has blended in perfectly. With his vast experience in woodworking, mechanical ability and sailing passion, he has adopted the role of service writer effortlessly. Expect to hear from him as we coordinate services for your boat. We also want to give a shout out to Delaney. Delaney is fully integrated into the Great Lakes Boat Building School (GLBBS) as of the beginning of September! We want to wish her great success and we look forward to working with her when she returns as a marine technician!

Important Invoice Information

We have recently upgraded billing software to Biller Genie.  If you pay your invoice through our payment portal, at Boyneboatyard.com, you will notice a ccd fee that will be added to the total amount. Of course, if you pay by cash or check, you will not incur the ccd fee. All customers will notice a change in the look of the receipt.  With the new software, you will be able to view any invoice paid through Biller Genie.

Best to you and your family,

Tanner DePriest
